In September 2009, the Montgomery Clean City Commission (MCCC) asked EcoMAX® to partner with them for the nationwide Cans for Cash™ Recycling Challenge. The annual competition rewards cities for recycling aluminum beverage cans. EcoMAX joined the effort to encourage residents to continue recycling, particularly with the recent end to the curbside program in Montgomery.
The joint effort paid off – literally. As a result of the partnership, a total of 83,536 pounds of aluminum were collected during the drive. In addition, Montgomery’s campaign, Keep Recycling Alive, won first place for Most Innovative Program in its division. The $7500 award, presented in January at the National Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C., was one of only four awards presented to the top cities with the most innovative ideas to promote aluminum can recycling.
